2024 Assembly Elections Update: Congress Leader Balasaheb Thorat Submits Nomination for Sangamner Seat

Maharashtra and Jharkhand Assembly Elections Heat Up as Nomination Deadline Approaches

As the countdown to the Assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand intensifies, political leaders are making their moves. On Monday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis filed their nomination papers, marking a significant step in the electoral process. With the last day for filing nominations set for Tuesday, November 4, candidates are racing against the clock to secure their spots on the ballot for the elections scheduled on November 20.

In a flurry of activity, the Congress party has released its candidate lists, announcing two candidates for Jharkhand and four for Maharashtra. Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also been busy, with spokesperson Shaina NC and the daughter of former minister Danve making it to the third list of candidates from the Shiv Sena.

BJP’s Internal Struggles and Candidate Announcements

The political landscape is not without its tensions. Gopal Shetty, a prominent BJP leader, has turned rebel, voicing concerns over the party’s decision to award tickets to "outsiders." This internal dissent could pose challenges for the BJP as it seeks to maintain its stronghold in Maharashtra.

In a more positive light for the BJP, the party has released its fourth list, featuring two candidates, including an aide of Fadnavis who will contest from Mira Bhayander. The party is optimistic about its chances, with Fadnavis expressing confidence that the Mahayuti coalition will once again form the government in the state.

Shiv Sena and Other Parties Join the Fray

Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC has officially filed her nomination papers from the Mumbadevi seat, adding to the excitement of the upcoming elections. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has also joined the fray, releasing its seventh list of candidates, further complicating the electoral landscape.

In Jharkhand, the political atmosphere appears to be leaning in favor of the Mahagathbandhan, as RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav declared a "one-sided atmosphere" in the state. He emphasized the coalition’s strategy to contest seven seats, aiming for a clean sweep.

Looking Ahead

As the deadline for nominations looms, the political drama in Maharashtra and Jharkhand is set to escalate. With various parties finalizing their candidates and internal conflicts surfacing, the stage is being set for a fiercely contested election. Voters can expect a lively campaign period leading up to November 20, as candidates hit the ground running to secure their positions and sway public opinion.
