Congress and JMM Reveal Seat Sharing Deal for Jharkhand Elections; RJD Responds with Anger, Claims ‘All Options Are on the Table’

Congress and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha Team Up for Assembly Polls, RJD Outraged

In a surprising twist ahead of the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections, the Congress party and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) have announced their plans to join forces, igniting a firestorm of discontent within their ally, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). Chief Minister Hemant Soren revealed that the two parties aim to contest 70 out of the 81 seats in the state, leaving the RJD and other partners feeling sidelined and frustrated.

During a recent meeting with alliance partners, Soren confirmed that discussions regarding seat-sharing are still ongoing, particularly concerning the remaining 11 seats. "The INDIA bloc will contest the Jharkhand assembly polls together," he stated, emphasizing that the decision was made after thorough consultations with allies. Candidates are expected to be announced soon, but the sudden announcement has left the RJD fuming.

Senior RJD leader Manoj Kumar Jha didn’t hold back his disappointment, criticizing the decision as hasty and unilateral. "All decisions cannot be taken instantly like 2 minutes’ noodles," he quipped, highlighting the need for more thoughtful deliberation among the alliance partners. Jha further asserted that the RJD has identified 15 to 18 seats where they believe they can independently defeat the BJP, expressing frustration over the limited offer of seats from the JMM and Congress.

The upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections are set to take place in two phases on November 13 and 20, with the counting of votes scheduled for November 23. As the political landscape heats up, the RJD’s reaction underscores the complexities of coalition politics, where alliances can quickly turn sour over disagreements on strategy and seat distribution.

This latest development raises questions about the future of the INDIA alliance in Jharkhand. Will the RJD choose to stand firm and contest independently, or will they find a way to reconcile with their partners? As the election date approaches, all eyes will be on how this political drama unfolds in the heart of Jharkhand.
