Trump Criticizes Biden and Harris Over Hurricane Helene Response

In a fiery series of posts on Truth Social, former President Donald Trump has launched a fresh wave of criticism against President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris regarding their handling of the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. The storm has wreaked havoc across several states, particularly North Carolina, where Trump claims residents are being neglected in favor of illegal migrants.
“The GREAT people of North Carolina are being stood up by Harris and Biden,” Trump wrote, accusing the administration of misallocating Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funds. He asserted that the current response is “the WORST rescue operation in the history of the U.S.” and lamented that billions of dollars are being sent to foreign countries while North Carolinians suffer. “NORTH CAROLINA HAS BEEN VIRTUALLY ABANDONED BY KAMALA!!! DROP HER LIKE SHE DROPPED YOU – VOTE FOR PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP. MAGA2024!” he added.
Trump’s remarks come in the wake of Harris’s recent visit to Augusta, Georgia, where she assessed the damage caused by the hurricane. While Biden approved a request for 100% reimbursement of local cleanup costs, many have criticized the administration’s response as inadequate. FEMA has announced a $750 assistance program for individuals with immediate needs, a figure that many feel falls short given the extensive damage reported.
In another post, Trump intensified his attacks, stating, “THE RESPONSE TO THE HURRICANE BY LYIN’ KAMALA HARRIS IS NOW RATED THE WORST STORM RESPONSE IN HISTORY.” He urged voters in affected states, including Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina, to rally behind him in the upcoming election, promising to “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Harris has faced significant backlash for her actions following the hurricane. Recently, she was accused of staging a photo opportunity during a briefing on the storm’s impacts, with critics pointing out that her earbuds appeared to be unplugged. This incident, along with her delayed visit to Georgia, has fueled further criticism, with many arguing that prompt action could have alleviated the suffering of those affected by the storm.
As the political landscape heats up ahead of the 2024 elections, Trump’s comments reflect a broader strategy to capitalize on the administration’s perceived shortcomings in disaster response. With Hurricane Helene’s impact still fresh in the minds of voters, the former president is positioning himself as a champion for those he claims have been overlooked by the current administration.
As the situation develops, it remains to be seen how Biden and Harris will respond to these accusations and whether their actions in the wake of Hurricane Helene will influence voter sentiment in the upcoming election.
