US Sheriff Claims He ‘Likely Averted’ Third Assassination Attempt on Trump | 2024 Election News

Suspect Arrested Near Trump Rally, Denies Assassination Intentions

In a startling incident that has raised eyebrows and concerns about security, a man was arrested near a campaign rally for former President Donald Trump in California, reportedly carrying unregistered firearms and multiple passports. Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco stated that law enforcement likely thwarted what could have been a third assassination attempt against the Republican candidate. The suspect, 49-year-old Vem Miller from Nevada, has denied any intentions to harm Trump, calling the accusations “complete bulls**t.”

The drama unfolded on Saturday in Coachella, where Trump was holding a rally. Sheriff Bianco revealed that deputies apprehended Miller at a security perimeter, where he was found with two loaded firearms, a high-capacity magazine, and an unregistered vehicle sporting a fake license plate. “If you’re asking me right now, I probably did have deputies that prevented the third assassination attempt,” Bianco told reporters, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation.

Miller was taken into custody without incident and has since been released on bail. He is set to appear in court on January 2, 2025, facing charges related to the firearms he possessed. Despite the gravity of the allegations, Miller insists he is a Trump supporter and an artist, claiming he would never resort to violence. “I’m the last person that would cause any violence and harm to anybody,” he stated in an interview with Southern California News Group.

The U.S. Secret Service, which is responsible for the safety of former presidents, assessed that the incident did not compromise Trump’s protective operations, assuring the public that he was not in danger at the time. However, the investigation into Miller’s actions is ongoing, and no federal arrests have been made yet.

This incident comes on the heels of two other alarming events involving threats against Trump. Just weeks ago, a man named Ryan Routh was charged with attempting to assassinate the former president while he was golfing in Florida. Routh has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Additionally, in July, Trump was shot in the ear during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, an event that sparked widespread criticism of the security measures in place at the time.

The U.S. Secret Service has acknowledged failures in its security protocols during the Pennsylvania rally, citing “deficiencies” in planning and coordination with local law enforcement. With these recent events, questions about the safety of political figures and the effectiveness of security measures are more pressing than ever.

As the investigation into Miller continues, the political landscape remains tense, with Trump’s campaign yet to comment on the arrest. The public will be watching closely as this story unfolds, hoping for clarity and safety in the tumultuous world of political campaigning.
